Fishing and hunting during winter are key activities for many communities in the territory of Nunavik. Understanding and identifying seasonal changes to ice regimes of local rivers and lakes are therefore of great importance to communities in the region. Radar satellite ice mapping provides information on the dynamics of ice formation and ice types which can be an aid for safe travel planning
Example classifications of different river ice types for five dates during the 2010 and 2011 winter season are provided. Select the monitoring date of interest to view the ice classification data.
